At a press conference held at the Marriott Zamalek Hotel in Cairo, dmg events, a leading international events company, announced the return of The Big 5 Construct Egypt from 2 to 4 September at the Egyptian International Exhibition Centre (EIEC), in partnership with ACG-ITF, the organiser of the largest international exhibitions in Egypt.

Running its second edition, The Big 5 Construct Egypt 2019 is Egypt’s largest construction event and is held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

The press conference began with a speech from Eng. Khaled Abbas Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities for National Projects, who praised the importance of the exhibition for the construction sector. Also, He added that construction represents the second largest sector in terms of growth, pointing out that government and private investments for this industry exceed 200 billion Egyptian pounds.

Moreover, He pointed out that there are about 20 countries participating in The Big 5 Construct Egypt, which confirms the importance of this exhibition in the construction sector.

Roni El Haddad, Event Director at dmg events, announced that this year the show will gather over 300 Egyptian and international exhibitors, and is expected to welcome more than 13,000 visiting industry professionals.

“The Big 5 Construct Egypt’s mission is to support the expanding requirements of the booming Egyptian construction and infrastructure sectors, serving Egypt’s strategic development objectives and its Vision 2030. To this end, the event will provide a professional platform to foster best practices, business and investment opportunities in Egypt,” he said.

The event will feature 20 exhibiting countries from around the globe, from the US through to Germany, UAE, and China. “This confirms the growing international interest in the Egyptian construction market,” added El Haddad.

Speaking at the press conference, Sphinx Glass’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Khattab, said:

“We are very proud to participate in an industry-leading event such as The Big 5 Construct Egypt at this time with the country being a hub for visionary mega projects. As for Sphinx Glass, we will keep manufacturing superior quality glass under a licensing agreement from PPG Industries, to contribute to the Egyptian economic reform.”

Beyond showcasing hundreds of innovative construction products and solutions across seven dedicated sectors, The Big 5 Construct Egypt will also offer a wide educational program, which is completely free and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified.

“Last year, more than 1,500 Egyptian attendees benefitted from this free educational offer and we expect to further grow the number of construction professionals learning and advancing their knowledge at the event next month,” announced El Haddad.

The Big 5 Construct Egypt 2019, in fact, will increase by 25% its complimentary certified educational sessions, providing 55 seminars delivered by 60 top industry experts from companies like Egypt Green Building Council, Orascom, Palm Hills Development, and Khatib & Alami.

Beyond workshops on Urban Planning, Architecture & Design, Building Envelope and Facades, Project Management, Infrastructure & Transport, and Women in Construction, the event will introduce the first BIM Breakout Seminars, certified by Autodesk, and dedicated sessions on HVACR, MEP, and Concrete, all sectors that are booming in Egypt.

Tamer Anani, Executive Director, Design & Engineering at SODIC, who will be a key speaker at the event, said:

“I see The Big 5 Construct Egypt as the destination where tradition and innovation intertwine. It is an honor to participate in this version held in the world’s largest heritage site: Egypt.”
“My participation is to highlight and emphasize the role of construction leading the real-estate industry evolution, and to change the myth that construction is a burden and lacks flexibility to evolve.”

With a pipeline of known and un-awarded projects worth more than $300 billion, Egypt is larger than any other regional market after Saudi Arabia and the UAE, said the event organisers. Also, according to a recent report commissioned for The Big 5 Construct Egypt, construction is by far the largest future market in the country, with more than $120 billion worth of planned projects and growing.

For this reason, dmg events announced it will further invest in Egypt over the coming years to elevate The Big 5 Construct Egypt’s profile and establish it as their flagship exhibition in the whole African continent.

The Big 5 Construct Egypt 2019, held under the theme “Bringing the World of Construction to Egypt: Product Innovation – Knowledge Sharing – Networking”, is free to attend.

The event is sponsored by Sphinx Glass, and supported by the Egyptian Federation for Construction & Building Contractors – EFCBC, QMEA – Quali Middle East Association, MEFMA, the World Architecture Community, Dubai Exports, and AHK – German-Arab Chamber of Industry & Commerce.
