10TH EDITION OF THE BIG 5 SAUDI ANNOUNCED AS KSA SURGES TO GCC’S LARGEST CONSTRUCTION MARKET

  • The Big 5 Saudi will return to the Jeddah Centre for Forum & Events on 8-11 March 2020
  • The value of planned and yet un-awarded projects in Saudi Arabia exceeds USD 1.2 trillion

Welcoming over 13,000 participants from 10-13 March at the Jeddah Centre for Forums & Events, the 9th edition of The Big 5 Saudi marked the renaissance of Saudi Arabia’s building industry.

Not only did The Big 5 Saudi feature a record number of international country pavilions this year, confirming a growing interest in KSA’s building business: it also hosted several world leading manufacturers of construction products that took part in the exhibition for the first time ever.

“This was our first time at The Big 5 Saudi and it has been very positive,” said Alex O’Byrne from Colt International. “We’ve picked up some good leads so we plan to come back to the exhibition next year. In Saudi there are a lot of growth opportunities; it’s been quiet for a couple of years, but the market is back on the way up.”

With the value of planned and un-awarded projects exceeding USD 1.2 trillion, the Kingdom is set to be the largest GCC construction market in the coming years.

According to MEED Projects, 7 in 10 major GCC projects under bidding are set to be developed in Saudi Arabia. These include the Red Sea Tourism Project founded by the Public Investment Fund, the new Jeddah Metro Lines, and the Saudi Landbridge Project. The Tabouk Province, where the mega NEOM city is currently under construction, and the Mecca province, where Jeddah is located, are the two most active Saudi regions in terms of planned projects.

Displaying the latest construction products for the over 5,200 projects currently active in the Kingdom, The Big 5 Saudi, KSA’s leading construction event, brought hundreds of local and international brands to Jeddah this year.

Commenting on the Italian country pavilion on show, Filippo Covino, Director of the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) in Amman, said: “The Italian Trade Commission is extremely glad to take part in The Big 5 Saudi with a group of Italian companies. Our goal is to keep supporting a growing number of Italian firms going forward, and help them discover the vast opportunities offered by the Saudi market.”

“We had an outstanding participation at The Big 5 Saudi in Jeddah this year,” confirmed Roni El Haddad, Event Director of The Big 5 Saudi. “We hosted 245 exhibiting companies from 21 countries and the response in terms of visitors’ number has been outstanding!

“We look forward to catering to the growing needs of the Saudi construction industry in 2020 as we gear up to celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary!”

The Big 5 Saudi will return from 8-11 March 2020 at the Jeddah Centre for Forums & Events. The event will feature hundreds of Saudi and international construction companies alongside a broad, free to attend, and CPD-certified education agenda presented by industry experts and opinion leaders.

Also, to celebrate 10 years of The Big 5 Saudi and 10 years of technological advancements in construction, a new Big 5 Saudi Tech sector will be launched at the event. This will focus on advancements in technology driving the construction industry forward, including BIM, drones, and digital construction.
